Touchy Tip 004: Tap the top

Browsing lengthy web pages on your iPhone is a bit like mountain biking - it's a lot easier to go down, than it is to go up.

Take a lengthy discussion board thread, for example. Scrolling down the page is fine. But when you reach the bottom, you find yourself faced with the RSI-inducing prospect of having to flick your way back up to the top.

Unless you know the "tap the top" trick, that is...

When you find yourself way down a web page and you want to return to the top, simply tap the status bar at the top of your screen and your iPhone will automatically take you there.

(Safari's address bar reappears too, which is handy if you want to visit a different site.)

i wish they would add a similar shortcut for skipping to the bottom of a long web page. scrolling down a bulletin board thread to read the latest post is really annoying!

Nice tip. Strange that Apple didn't roll "tap the top" out across all of the iPhone's native applications.
